I ended up making a very simple script (not at all production ready) to update the file with my custom templates every time I ran it just to play around. In fact it only took a few minutes for PSP to update it in the background forcing me to update it again. Occasionally PSP will update it with the latest and greatest information overwriting any changes you make so it wouldn't be a permanent solution.
